Aim of this course is to provide participants with the basics of reservoir studies, i.e. those multidisciplinary, integrated activities aimed at the physical characterisation of the reservoir rocks (clastic and carbonates). You will
understand how to quantify rock properties (gross versus net volumes, porosity, permeability, water saturation in pores etc.) and how to distribute these properties in the subsurface. Reservoir studies deliver complex structural and
geological models which help engineers to simulate fluid flows in the subsurface according to a variety of development schemes. The same workflows can be used to describe aquifers. The course also covers new technologies for
characterization of fracture reservoirs, uncertainty evaluation and management during a reservoir study, geomechanics for a sustainable development and concepts of Carbon Capture and Storage for the reduction of Greenhouse Gases
released in the environment.
