This module will provide a brief introduction to the use of scientific databases for the interpretation of genetic data in the context of different human conditions. The main aims of the course will be the use of advanced techniques in clinical genetics, such as genomic arrays and next generation sequencing (NGS), and the interpretation on diagnostic genetic testing.
During the course clinical cases will be discussed with the opportunity to make diagnostic hypothesis and to follow the workflow possibly leading to a genetic diagnosis.

The laboratories will be performed in the afternoon during the course of Immunology and General Pathology. The students will be divided in groups to be able to attend the laboratory and perform an experiment related to the subjects studied during the course

The course will develop an integrated vision of Medicine. Discussion of both personal responsibility and the importance of trust in health-care settings are increasingly prominent in the bioethics literature, as discussion of inequalities and patient's right. The students will work on cases to understand how different model of patient responsibility affect climates of trust or distrust.The course is made to be very interacting, engaging students on search and discussion of both real life related topics and example from narrative .
